School Board of the City of Virginia Beach names Dr. Donald Robertson Jr. superintendent

The School Board of the City of Virginia Beach voted to name Dr. Donald Robertson Jr. as superintendent at its meeting Jan. 23. A native of Hampton Roads, Dr. Robertson began his career as a math teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) in 1988 and progressed in leadership roles including assistant principal of Bayside High School, principal of Salem High School, chief strategy and innovation officer, chief schools officer, chief of staff and acting superintendent.

Hundreds of Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students will participate in the 16th Annual African American Male Summit on Jan. 20 at Frank W. Cox High School. Boys in grades six through 12 will share ideas with each other and with adult community members on topics such as student leadership, community involvement, relationship-building, and physical and mental well-being.

  • Administrative - Includes certified administrators such as principals, asst principals, central office
  • Certified – Includes positions requiring a teaching license and psychologists, school social workers, occupational/physical therapists
  • Support/Classified -Includes all non-teaching, non-administrative applicants including bus drivers (757-263-1545), bus assistants, custodial and distribution services (757-263-2600), cafeteria workers and food services (757-263-1101), and facility maintenance workers (757-263-1090).
  • Substitute – Includes all substitute positions
  • Supplemental - Includes all coaching, athletic trainer, security/police officer, and tutor positions
  • Summer School - Includes certified teachers, teacher assistants, custodians, office associates, nurses positions, library media specialist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech language therapist and other such related positions

  1. Read the "Applicant Type" instructions above regarding application types to determine your type.
  2. Select "View Available Jobs/Manage Application" from the column on the left side of this page.
  3. You will now be on the Virginia Beach City Public Schools Applicant Login page. Read the instructions on the left side, and then select "Create New Account" to begin the application process. You will create a username and password; please write these down, because you will use them each time you log in to your application.
  4. Please complete each page in your application. Be sure to click save and next at the bottom of each page.
  5. You must log in to your application at least once every 30 days to keep your account active.

Manage

If you already have started or completed a VBCPS online application:

  1. Select "View Available Jobs/Manage Application" from the column on the left side of this page.
    Sign in with your Username and Password. If you forgot your username or password, please use the "Having trouble logging in?" feature located under the Sign-In Section. Please be sure to check your spam/junk email folders for the password reset email if necessary.
  2. On the General Information Page of your application on the bottom right, you can review the applicant type you selected (see the descriptions above), and change it if necessary.
  3. Please complete each page in your application. Be sure to click save and next at the bottom of each page.
  4. You must log in to your application at least once every 30 days to keep your account active.
